Van crashes into Olney home after driver, passenger are shot

A van crashed into an Olney home early Thursday morning after the driver and a passenger were shot in the head, CBS Philly reports.

The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on the 5500 block of N. American St. Police say they found two male victims, one of whom was the driver, bleeding from the head.

Officials say the driver, who was shot in the head and hand, was speaking to police when they arrived on the scene. NBC10 reports that the man, unaware he had been shot, told police he was injured from the accident.

According to NBC10, the men were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where the driver was pronounced dead a short time later. The passenger is still alive in critical condition, police said.

Three other male passengers fled from the scene on foot following the crash, according to police. Police say a gun was found in the van, as well as what they say appears to be marijuana in the glove compartment.

Police say it is likely the shooting caused the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
