Clay wheel File Art/for PhillyVoice

Working with clay is a relaxing, creative hobby.

Spring is the perfect time to learn a new skill or brush up on old hobbies. The Clay Studio is beginning a new round of adult classes soon, and registration is open. So, if you've never taken a clay class but you're curious about that wheel throwing scene in "Ghost," now is your chance to take the plunge.

Courses include different levels in hand building and wheel throwing, as well as general pottery classes which combine both techniques. Special topics courses include screen printing on clay, majolica surface decoration techniques and building with molds.

The Clay Studio also offers "Studio Passports" for crafters looking for some extra studio time and teen courses for younger students. The first round of spring classes begins April 1.

Not ready to commit to a clay course? Check out the studio's events calendar and one-day workshops, or sign up for one of their ultra-popular date nights, which sell out weeks in advance.
