The Flyers have signed forward Taylor Leier to a one-year contract extension, the team announced on Friday morning.
The 23-year-old winger got his first taste of the NHL during the 2015-16 season before spending this past December with the Flyers and appearing in 10 games. Leier, a fourth-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, also picked up his first NHL point (Dec. 14 vs. Colorado) and his first NHL goal (Dec. 17 vs. Dallas).
Most of his experience, however, has come at the AHL level with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In 48 games with the Phantoms last season, Leier netted 13 goals and added another 24 assists for a total of 37 points. During his three years there, he has appeared in 192 games and recorded 117 points (46 goals, 71 assists).
Prior to joining the Phantoms at the start of the 2014-15 season, Leier spent three seasons with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL, where he recorded 178 points (77 goals, 101 assists) and served as team captain during his final season.
