Pirouette between true love and betrayal—cruelty and forgiveness—in the Philadelphia Ballet’s modern revival of "Giselle," debuting at the Academy of Music on February 29th and continuing through March. Family circle tickets start at just $25.
"With Giselle, I sought to honor the ballet's rich heritage while infusing it with a vitality that resonates with today's audiences,” said Angel Corella, The Ruth & A. Morris Williams Artistic Director. “It's a privilege to bring this iconic piece to life and share my vision with the incredible patrons of Philadelphia Ballet."
Timeless as it is contemporary, the performance explores an otherworld of deception and atonement: When Giselle, an unassuming young peasant, falls for a masquerading nobleman, the consequences of their forbidden love flood the Rhineland, releasing the wrath of forest spirits that have plagued its villagers for generations.
Among the most influential pieces of the early Romantic era, the show welcomes audiences new and familiar, stunning with its pointework, choreography, and celestial score—a fitting commencement to the Philadelphia Ballet’s 60th season on Broad Street.
Reserve your tickets for late winter and experience the spellbinding humanity of "Giselle."
