Now that the weather isn't, for lack of a better word, disastrous, Philadelphia's wonderful garden centers and farmstands will start opening again.
Greensgrow West, the West Philly location of
Greensgrow Farms, will open March 20.
They'll be selling seeds, soil -- and other gear will be up for grabs and seeds will be 10 percent off.
All spring Greensgrow West will serve your Community-sponsored agriculture, farmstand and garden center needs. Throughout the season, they'll be open Fridays 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Mondays 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Need a little help planting your seeds? Want to grow your own veggies? Greensgrow
Farms (2501 E. Cumberland St.) is holding a
Seed Starting Workshop Saturday, March 21 noon-2 p.m. It includes demonstrations and educational information, plus you'll take home your own tray of planted seeds. Registration, $25 per person, is required.
