Joel Embiid suffers setback on right foot

You never know when Woj Bombs will drop, but Sixers fans were treated to the worst kind on Saturday night at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski is the best NBA reporter when it comes to breaking news, so you can bet his information is good. In the post he linked, here's the important paragraph:

After weeks of rigorous workouts, Embiid had not felt pain in the foot, but a recent CT scan revealed an issue in the healing process, sources said. Philadelphia is consulting with doctors on how to best proceed, and it's still premature to speculate on the possibility of another surgical procedure that could sideline Embiid, sources said.

Embiid sat out all of last season after undergoing surgery to repair the stress fracture in the right foot. It's still premature to know exactly what this means, but it sure ain't good. Sixers GM and President of Basketball Operations Sam Hinkie issued this statement, which CSN's Marshall Harris was nice enough to tweet out:

There's a chance the Sixers are just being very cautious here, but we'll have to wait for more information to know for sure either way. I've always been of the opinion that Joel Embiid's health is the only thing that can hold him back from becoming a star. As tonight proved, it's still a very major concern.
