Police investigating after man critically injured in North Philly hit-and-run

Police are investigating after a pedestrian was critically injured in a hit-and-run early Friday morning in North Philadelphia, NBC10 reports.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. at Fifth Street and Hunting Park Avenue. Police say a driver struck a pedestrian and fled the scene.

The 45-year-old male victim was found lying in the street. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. The man sustained severe injuries, including a fractured femur and pelvis, as well as injuries to his head and face.

“We did find some small, fresh broken lenses from the vehicle," Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10. "So that’s possibly evidence of a vehicle striking this 45-year-old male."

The incident remains under investigation.
