Police: Man killed by NJ Transit train was fleeing authorities

He was being sought in connection with the assault of a diner employee


The man hit and killed Monday morning by an NJ Transit train was fleeing after allegedly assaulting an employee at a diner in Bordentown, New Jersey, police told NBC10.

The television station reported a River Line train struck a man identified as Paul Brophy. Police were searching for him after being called to the Liberty 2 Diner, where Brophy allegedly attacked an employee, causing minor injuries. A confrontation allegedly took place after Brophy was found hitting and kicking the employee's car.

Brophy crashed his truck and fled on foot before being hit by the train, police told NBC10.
