Now there is a plate that tells you when you're overeating

SmartPlate Fitly/Kickstarter

Invented by Philadelphia's own Fitly, the SmartPlate comes with three digital cameras and weighs your food.

If we weren't already scrutinizing our food choices enough, there is now a SmartPlate that chronicles your meals and alerts you when you're overeating.

Invented by Philadelphia's own Fitly, the plate comes with three digital cameras and weighs your food. Image recognition technology enables the SmartPlate to detect exactly what you're eating and how many calories it's worth.

This thing is smart. It can even tell white bread from wheat bread.

The information is then transmitted to a corresponding app on your phone. The end goal is to make users more aware of their diet.

In 2011, Fitly launched an app that lets users personalize their meals. Ingredients are then delivered to their door. The company has participated in the DreamIt Accelerator and is now part of the University City Science Center Digital Health Accelerator

Fitly has launched a kickstarter campaign to raise the $100,000 they need to produce the SmartPlate. For just $149, you can score one for yourself. SmartPlates will ship in the summer of 2016.
