SEPTA officials have confirmed that a man was fatally struck Saturday afternoon by a shuttle bus returning from a service run in Glenside.
According to SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch, the incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. as the bus made a turn from Glenside Avenue onto Limekiln Pike.
"There was an adult male crossing the street when the bus turned and contact was made on the left side of the vehicle," Busch said. "Medics and police responded and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene."
The identity of the victim has not yet been revealed. There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the accident and no other injuries reported.
The Abington Police Department is investigating the crash with assistance from SEPTA.
