A local grandmother got the chance to play a special, nontraditional role in her granddaughter’s wedding.
According to NBC10, Philly bride Christine Quinn asked her grandmother, 89-year-old Betty Govern, to be a bridesmaid at her May 2 wedding held at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia.
Quinn told NBC10 that her grandmother is one of her best friends, so the decision to ask her to stand beside her on her big day was a simple one.
“My favorite moment was before the ceremony when she asked me, ‘Christine, are you happy?,'” Quinn recalled. “I obviously said yes, and she said, ‘Okay, that’s all I ever wanted.'”
