Philly is getting a ping-pong social club

It's a game changer

The mundane activity of playing ping-pong in someone's basement is getting an upgrade.

SPiN is out to make table tennis cool and a thing in Philly. The brand has already succeeded in New York, where it launched "the original ping pong social club."

Philly's SPiN will open in July at 211 S. 15th St. Know that glass building across from Max Brenner? It will be in the basement of that space.

The 12,000-square-foot interior will feature 17 Olympic-style ping-pong tables, private lounge spaces, a full kitchen and two bars.

The décor will borrow from urban street style, featuring graffiti and murals. A house DJ booth will also overlook the central ping-pong tables.

Walk-ins are welcome, as are big parties or corporate events. SPiN will offer tournament leagues, casual play, private ping-pong lessons and ping-pong parties.

Hours and prices have not yet been announced.
