Juan Valerio, 43, is charged with murder and related crimes.

A Kensington man has reportedly confessed to killing his wife with a hammer at the couple's home on Sunday morning.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. at a home in the 3000 block of Ruth Street, according to 6ABC.

When officers responded to the scene around 3:22 a.m., Marisol Garcia-Infante, 41, was found unconscious next to her bed with a large laceration on the back of her head. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.

While still at the property, police were approached by 43-year-old Juan Valerio, who allegedly told them he hit Garcia-Infante in the head with a hammer.

Valerio was taken into custody and charged with murder and possession of an instrument of crime.

A motive for the attack remains under investigation.
