Police seeking suspect who fatally shot man in South Philadelphia

Police are searching for a suspect who shot and killed a man Monday night in South Philadelphia, CBSPhilly reports.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. at 24th and Montrose streets.

Responding officers found a 21-year-old man lying unconscious in the street with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and torso. The victim was rushed to Presbyterian Hospital and was pronounced dead a couple hours later.

"Witnesses describe the shooter as a male, possibly wearing camouflage pants or dark clothing," Chief Inspector Scott Small told CBSPhilly. "(He) was last seen on a bicycle traveling west on Montrose from 24th Street."

According to authorities, at least 10 shots were fired. The victim lived around the corner from where the shooting happened, police said.

The shooting remains under investigation.
