The Philly 10k race is back for 2016. Registration for the August 28 race opens May 9 at 10 a.m. Participants will run 6.2 miles through Philly neighborhoods, beginning at Eighth and South streets and ending at Fifth and Pine streets. Once across the finish line there will be a street party until 11 a.m.

Runners will want to cross the finish line quickly to get the most time at the party. In addition, the top three male and female runners will receive cash prizes. The first-place prize is $250.

Registration for the race is $65 (plus a $5 processing fee) and includes a shirt, a beer from Philadelphia Brewing Company for those 21-plus and a Shake Shack "Coffee and Donuts" frozen custard featuring Federal Donuts. The beers and sweet treats will be given out at the post-race party.

Participants can party before the race too, at the bib pick-up location. On August 26-27, Headhouse Market at Second and Pine streets will host the bib pick-up with live music, food and beer. There will be no race day pickup.
