Report: Bills wish to interview Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich for head coaching opening

According to Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News, the Buffalo Bills have reached out to the Philadelphia Eagles about interviewing Frank Reich for their head coaching opening. The Bills fired previous head coach Rex Ryan with one game left in the 2016 regular season.

Reich was a former quarterback for the Bills from 1985 to 1994, mainly serving as a backup to Hall of Famer Jim Kelly. According to Carucci, the Bills interviewed Reich once before, in January of 2015 before hiring Ryan. At the time, Reich was the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers.

While head coach Doug Pederson handles the play-calling duties for the Eagles, losing Reich would be a blow to the team. In his first year, rookie quarterback Carson Wentz looked mentally prepared for the challenges he would face in the NFL, often displaying the poise and demeanor of a veteran quarterback. Ideally, Wentz would continue to grow under the tutelage of Pederson, Reich, and quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo in a full offseason with the team.
