A New Jersey Transit train waits at the Atlantic City Rail Terminal before heading off to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia.

A man who laid down on a set of NJ Transit railroad tracks Saturday afternoon escaped the incident without harm, according to officials.

An NJ Transit spokesman told NJ.com that the unidentified male was not hit by the train as it rolled over tracks on the Saddle Brook-Elmwood Park line.

The suspect faces charges of interfering with transportation, though it was not clear what motivated him to enter the tracks. Officials said he was apparently intoxicated and sent to the hospital.

Train 1775 was reportedly headed from Hoboken to Suffern, New York, according to NJ Transit's website, and operated on a 50-minute delay following the incident.
