Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Wayne Knight, aka Elaine and Newman from Seinfeld, wish James Calder a happy birthday after his son reached out to them.

Jimmy Calder, a Philadelphia resident, wanted to make his sick dad's birthday special this year.

His father, James Calder, was suffering from a rare form of non-smoking lung cancer, and since he was so ill, the Jimmy decided to reach out to his friends and families to record video messages to wish his dad a happy birthday.

Well, not just his friends and family - Jimmy also reachced out to the cast of Seinfeld, according to an essay he penned for the Huffington Post.

He thought it was a shot in the dark and that the actors wouldn't get back to him, but tried anyway since James was such a huge fan of the show. Here's the thing, though: they responded, in both hilarious and heart warming ways.

Here's just a few samplings of the video responses sent from cast members of the legendary comedy series:

John O'Hurley, aka J. Peterman:

Patrick Warburton, aka David Puddy:

Wayne Knight, aka Newman:

Larry Thomas, aka the Soup Nazi:

James Calder passed away at the age of 67 earlier this month, but not before the cast's kindness humbled the Calder family "to their core."
