Pennsylvania ranks No. 45 in terms of renewable energy production across American states, the U.S. Energy Information Administration says. The state has shifted focus from coal to natural gas in recent years, but still draws only 3% of its power from renewable sources like wind, solar, biomass or hydro.

Norfolk Southern to pay Pennsylvania $7 million to cover relief efforts following Ohio train derailment

Norfolk Southern has pledged to pay $7.4 million to Pennsylvania to cover damages caused by its train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio on Feb. 3. The money will reimburse the western Pennsylvania fire departments that responded to the blaze caused by the derailment, and benefit affected Beaver County residents and business owners.

Joanna McClinton became the first woman to be elected as speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Tuesday after Mark Rozzi resigned his post. McClinton, a Democrat from Philadelphia, represents the state's 191st District. She previously served as House majority leader and minority leader.

Little blue penguin chick born at Adventure Aquarium in Camden

A little blue penguin chick was born at Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey on Feb. 15. The bird, who does not have a name, weighed 37 grams – less than one pound. He will remain on display until he turns 3 weeks old. Then he will learn how to grab fish from the aquarium's biologists. Little blue penguins, also known as fairy penguins, are the smallest penguin species in the world. They grow to be about 13 inches in height.
