A Virgin Hotel could be the centerpiece of a major mixed-used development project at Broad and Lombard streets in Philadelphia. Renderings of the project show a hotel tower on the large site that covers the city block bordered by South Broad, 15th, Lombard and South streets. The project is being led by The Goldenberg Group, The Badger Group and Harvey and Robert Spear.

U.S. Customs & Border Protection agents seized 1,000 Tramadol pills that were hidden inside two cakes that were shipped to the United States from London, officials said. It's the second day in a row that CBP officials have discovered drugs hidden in an unusual way. On Wednesday, authorities discovered 12 cans of soup that were filled with liquid MDMA.

The Philadelphia Phillies have filled out their 2022 radio broadcast team to include four former players who will join Scott Franzke for road games. Larry Andersen will continue home game duties while Michael Bourn, Chad Durbin, Erik Kratz and Kevin Stocker take turns on the road. An international shipment of liquid MDMA was seized in Philadelphia after Customs & Border Protection officials noticed a purple liquid leaking from large cans of soup that were sent from the Netherlands. An analysis of the liquid determined that the substances was the party drug ecstasy, also known as molly. In response to discovering the shipment, which was bound for Miami, CBP officials referenced the infamous Soup Nazi from "Seinfeld."

Bonesaw Brewing Co. will open an 8,000-square-foot taproom at the Deptford Mall in South Jersey in late 2022. The Glassboro-based craft brewery opened a production facility and its first brewhouse on Mullica Hill Road in 2018. At the Deptford Mall, the brewery will be located in the former Sears space now mostly occupied by the Round1 bowling alley and entertainment complex.

Former ABC27 meteorologist Derrick Ometz died Feb. 20 in a skiing accident at Roundtop Mountain Resort, a popular outdoor recreation destination in Warrington Township, Pennsylvania. Ometz, 45, of Mechanicsburg, suffered multiple traumatic injuries and his death was ruled accidental, the Cumberland County Coroner's Office said.
