I-95 reopens after Sunday afternoon shooting near Walt Whitman Bridge

A shooting on I-95 in South Philadelphia prompted an hours-long shutdown of the highway on Sunday afternoon. Pennsylvania State Police said shots were fired at 1 p.m. between exits 19 and 20 – not far from the Walt Whitman Bridge. As of Sunday night, they had not stated whether anyone was injured.

Sprouts Farmers Market to open 2 new stores in Philly in June

Sprouts Farmers Market will new stores at Roosevelt Mall in Northeast Philadelphia and Quartermaster Plaza in South Philly on June 14 and June 21, respectively. The organic grocery chain opened its first location in Philadelphia on South Broad Street in 2018. It has four more stores planned for the region.

Nearly 40 animals, including a duct-taped kitten, rescued in Coatesville by Brandywine Valley SPCA

The Brandywine Valley SPCA rescued nearly 40 animals from a home in Coatesville, Chester County last week after a kitten with a severed front leg wrapped in duct tape was given to officers responding to reports of a stray dog. Some of the animals had untreated wounds, infected eyes or respiratory illnesses. They will be put up for adoption. A suspect has been charged with animal cruelty.

The Made in America Festival was canceled for the second year in a row. Organizers of the yearly concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia that takes place during Labor Day Weekend didn't give a specific reason for the change, but said the event will return in the future.

America's oldest drive-in movie theater to celebrate its 90th anniversary

Shankweiler's Drive-In theater will celebrate its 90th anniversary on Saturday, April 13, with an homage to the original setup, including vintage cars and a remake of the original screen. The theater, which is in Orefield, is the oldest drive-in in the country.
