More than 8,000 people packed the Festival Pier late last month for the 4th Annual Hemp Heals Music Festival. The sold-out show featured musical performances by Sublime, Matisyahu and other heavy hitters, but the real crux of the event was to bring attention to the benefits and myriad uses of a plant called hemp.

Black lives are at the center of all of the films being showcased during the 4th Annual BlackStar Film Festival. For four days starting on July 30, the festival, presented by the Knight Foundation, will be focused on movies and documentaries that tell the stories of the black experience outside of the mainstream.

For the past seven years, North 2nd Street has played host to one of the biggest free festivals in the city. The 2nd Street Festival is back on August 2nd starting at noon through 10 p.m. with art, crafts, food, beer and three stages of live music.
