Universal announces Nintendo-themed areas at three theme parks

'You’ll feel as if you’re playing inside your favorite games – in real life'

Universal Parks & Resorts is bringing Super Mario World beyond the screen with the announcement of a trio of Nintendo-themed areas in its Orlando, Hollywood and Japan locations.

Universal announced the plans for the new video game-themed areas on its blog on Tuesday, saying planning is already underway.

The Nintendo areas will be “expansive, immersive and interactive” spaces sprinkled with “attractions, shops and restaurants,” the blog notes. “You’ll feel as if you’re playing inside your favorite games – in real life.”

Universal announced a partnership with Nintendo last year. The park areas are slated to open separately over the next few years.
