Villanova links: Wanamaker Award, Lowry’s late night, Jenkins on ‘Inside the NBA’

The hits just keep on coming for the Villanova men’s basketball program. First, Kyle Lowry does this:

And now the national champions will receive the John Wanamaker Award on June 22nd. From the Villanova website:

This annual distinction goes to the individual or team which "honors the athlete, team or organization that has done the most to reflect credit upon Philadelphia."

"We are proud to be associated with all of the great Philadelphia teams that have previously been honored with the John Wanamaker Athletic Award," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "This is a great tradition in Philadelphia and we're thrilled to have our team and University honored in this way."

Despite Lowry’s halfcourt heroics, the Toronto Raptors lost Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series in overtime against the Miami Heat, 102-96. Lowry shot 3-13 from the field, which is part of a larger trend. The Cardinal Dougherty and ‘Nova product, who was arguably the best guard in the Eastern Conference during the regular season, is shooting just 31 percent from the field and 16 percent from three in the playoffs.

To work on his shooting, Lowry stuck around in the Air Canada Centre to get up shots into the wee hours of the morning… by himself:

If we rewind back to the halfcourt heave that forced overtime, another Wildcat who knows a thing or two about big shots chimed in:

Eventually, Kris Jenkins’ tweet was shown on Inside the NBA, and as always, those guys had some fun with it:

Late edit: The Cats will have a couple of high-profile non-conference games away from Philly:
