Warmer weather forecasted as students head back to school

Summer may be over for the thousands of Philadelphia-area students who head back to school on Tuesday. But the weather isn't ready to call it a season quite yet.

The National Weather Service forecasts warmer weather to return after a Labor Day weekend that saw high temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

The mercury will hit the upper 80s on Tuesday before returning into the 90s on Wednesday, the first day of school for students across the School District of Philadelphia. Temperatures will the mid-90s by the end of the week.

Here is the forecast for the week:

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Breezy, with a north wind 14 to 20 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. North wind 10 to 14 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 96.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 75.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 95.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72.
