Two New Jersey state troopers who helped deliver a baby on the side of the Garden State Parkway went on national television Saturday to talk about their good deed.
Appearing on “Fox and Friends Weekend," troopers Alex Muro and Arnaldo Mateo said it was a unique experience and that they want to make plans to meet up with the parents and newborn they assisted.
"We just looked at each other and said, 'Wow, this is happening right now,'" Mateo told the hosts. Muro added that they did go through basic health training, which helped prepare them, but were never taught specifically how to deliver a baby.

Mateo and Muro were called to the northbound lanes of the Parkway in Hillside Township on Jan. 4 around 4 a.m. when a mother travelling to the hospital realized she couldn't wait any longer.
The troopers assisted in delivering a healthy baby girl, police said, as they helped cut the umbilical cord before handing her over to her mother.
The officers' actions come only a short time after another state trooper delivered a baby on the Garden State Parkway.
In December, Sergeant Boag helped bring a healthy baby girl into the world on the side of the road in New Brunswick.
"These recent newborns should form a club when they're older," state police wrote on their Facebook page.
