A 46-year-old woman holds onto car door as suspect who allegedly snatched her purse drives away.

Philadelphia police are trying to find the person who allegedly schemed to steal a woman's purse as she packed groceries into her car in a South Philly parking lot.

Footage of the incident, caught entirely on tape, was released by police Tuesday. Surveillance video shows a man driving a late-model Toyota Highlander around the lot at 330 Oregon Ave. around 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 27. He then parks his car next to a 46-year-old woman who is seen loading shopping bags into her car.

The video shows the suspect pulling out of the lot, stopping at the end of a row of parked cars, leaving his vehicle and then, according to police, running to grab the woman's purse, which was sitting in the front passenger's seat.

The woman, realizing what happened, runs after the car and tries to open the suspect's door. She holds on as the car quickly gains speed before she falls to the ground.

Anyone with information is asked to call South Detectives at 215-686-3013.
