The Cherry Hill Public Schools Board of Education announced a plan to adopt a transgender student policy allowing students access to bathrooms and changing areas based on their gender identity, according to an Associated Press report on CBSPhilly.
The policy is expected to be adopted sometime next month, the AP reports.
The new guidelines will also provide the South Jersey district's students with access to gender-neutral facilities if desired.
The goal of the policy, the district told the AP, is to ensure that all students have equal access to the Cherry Hill public schools' educational programs and activities as in compliance with federal and state laws.
