Chris Christie's signed gym shorts.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has taken a bit of a thumping since he dropped out of the Republican presidential race, to put it mildly. After endorsing Donald Trump for the GOP nomination, six "fed up" New Jersey newspapers called for his resignation while everyone else in the media took a few days to dissect his perplexing expression as he stood behind his former debate stage foe.

Christie, to his credit, fired back at reporters in a lengthy press conference in Trenton, denying that Trump ever "held him hostage" and insisting that he really doesn't care about "Internet freakouts." Now in his sixth year as governor, Christie is fully accustomed to the criticism he receives and he tends to be a good sport about it.

Unfortunately, as they say, the gym does more for your wind than your jump shot.

On Thursday, an autographed pair of Christie's "roughly sixty-inch" gym shorts popped up on eBay after a disillusioned former staffer decided he wanted to sever ties with his old boss, according to The New York Daily News.

EBay user jackrose104 said the dark blue, heavy cotton shorts were plucked from the New Jersey estate of an unnamed former state employee, who won them at a fundraising event near the start of Christie's first term in 2010.

It's hard to imagine who would spend the initial $200 price tag, but six bidders have upped the stakes to $207.50 as of Thursday evening. The auction continues until Saturday.

If your interest is somehow piqued, you'll find a kind-hearted message from Christie on the left leg of the shorts: “Stay in shape. Best wishes, Chris Christie, Gov. N.J.”
