The Folcroft Borough Police Department has become aware of scams that are deceiving people trying to donate money to officer Chris Dorman.

Dorman, who was shot seven times Friday during a drug investigation, was released from a Philadelphia hospital on Monday.

On the department's Facebook page, authorities warn anyone interested in making a donation to be careful. There are fraudulent websites, not affiliated with the department, soliciting money.

Folcroft police offered a reminder that donations can be submitted through the mail and the internet.

Checks must be made out to "Delaware County FOP Lodge 27" with "Christopher Dorman" in the memo to the following addresses:

• Folcroft Borough Police Department
  1555 Elmwood Avenue
  Folcroft, Pa. 19032

• FOP Lodge 27
  201 North Jackson Street
  Media, Pa. 19063

The only verified website to make a donation online is a GoFundMe account, created by Amanda Viglione.

The website says Dorman is a part-time police officer with two police departments in Delaware County. Part-time officers do not receive benefits.
