It was recorded for the new documentary "The Hunting Ground," which takes a look at the problem of assault on campus.

Written by Gaga and songwriter Diane Warren, the recording process for the song was a trying one, Warren told People Magazine:

"It was very emotional for her," legendary songwriter Diane Warren told PEOPLE at the National Women's History Museum brunch in Los Angeles on Saturday. "She couldn't even talk through it at times."

Gaga, 29, said in 2014 that she was taken advantage of by an older man when she was 19.

The lyrics address the aftermath for victims. In the video, three scenarios are played out from the perspective of three women who are assaulted.
