Man charged with raping two women at Pa. college

The defendant is also a student at the university located in western Pennsylvania

A Pennsylvania university student from Philadelphia has been charged with raping two women in separate incidents over the weekend.

According to CBS Philly, police said the defendant, 22-year-old Jose Aponte Jr., a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, about 60 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, allegedly assaulted the women -- also students at the university -- over the weekend while they were under the influence of alcohol.

Police told CBS Philly that Aponte allegedly raped the first woman, 22, on Friday, May 1, “after she blacked out from consuming alcohol.” The second alleged attack occurred on May 2.

The second woman, who is also 22, “tried to fight off Aponte as he removed her clothes, choked and sexually assaulted her,” according to police.

Aponte, who is being held on $50,000 bond, faces a preliminary hearing June 1.
