Sixteen-year-old Lamaya Green, left, and her 2-month-old infant, Amiliana, have been missing since July 4, according to Philadelphia police.

Update, 1:39 p.m.

Lamaya Green, 16 and her 2-month-old daughter, Amiliana, were found in a safe location and in good health shortly after Philadelphia police held a press conference announcing they had been missing for three weeks.

"We would like to thank everyone in attendance as we believe they were located due to the attention the story received today,"  Public Information Officer Troy Brown said in a statement.

A Philadelphia teenager and her infant daughter have been missing since voluntarily leaving their residence facility on the Fourth of July, according to police.

Lamaya Green, 16, and her 2-month-old daughter, Amiliana, were last seen at Northern Children's Services, where they lived, on the 5300 block of Ridge Avenue in the city's Wissahickon neighborhood.

Police believe Green ran away from the residential facility, which provides services to young mothers and children in need. They suspect she might be staying with family or friends elsewhere in Northwest Philadelphia, but have not heard from family members.

"We have no indication at this time that they're in danger," Philadelphia Police Capt. Malachi Jones said. "It is believed that the mother left with her child on her own free will. We are aggressively trying to find her now."

Police do not know of any dispute that might have prompted Green to leave Northern Children's Services, Jones said. But because the two have been missing for three weeks, police are asking for the public's assistance in determining their whereabouts.

Police are concerned about Green's ability to care for the infant on her own.

"That's a small baby," Jones said. "You have a 16-year-old mother, who is very young herself. She's a brand new mother. In my opinion, she doesn't have the skills necessary to be on the run, so to speak, with a 2-month old child."

Police do not have any intention of charging Lamaya Green with any crimes for running away with her child, Jones said.

"We just want her, at this particular time, to turn herself in," Jones said. "That's all we want her to do."

Lamaya is 5-foot-1, 110 pounds and has brown eyes, straight brown hair and a light brown complexion, police said. She was last seen wearing a scarf, pink pants and a blue shirt.

Amiliana is 1 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 7 pounds and has a light brown complexion, police said.

Anyone with information should call the Northwest Detective Division at (215) 686-3353 or dial 911.
