Police are searching Monday for a man who they say sexually assaulted a woman during a home invasion at a Bensalem apartment complex.

The Bensalem Township Police Department said the incident occurred Saturday around 5 a.m. at Lafayette Gardens at 520 Bristol Pike in Bucks County.

Authorities said the man entered an apartment where a woman and her daughter were sleeping. He gained access through an unlocked door or window. The woman awoke and tried to fight off the intruder but was sexually assaulted, according to authorities. The man fled the area on foot.

The suspect is described by police as a man between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall who was wearing glasses and "smelling of body odor."

Investigators have released surveillance video from a Sunoco gas station located at Frankford Avenue and Knights Road in Northeast Philadelphia. The footage shows a man inside the store who allegedly matches the description of the suspect. In the video, the man appears to be breathing heavily shortly after the incident occurred.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bensalem Township Police Department at (215) 633-3719.
