Rooster Soup Co. is located between Ladder 15 and Oscar's Tavern.

Rooster Soup Co., the Federal Donuts and Broad Street Ministry collaboration, has found itself in a very coveted position.

The eatery that opened just down the way from Federal Donuts at 15th and Sansom streets in January has been named one of GQ's "Best New Restaurants in America" – a list of 10 published Thursday.

The restaurant donates all of its profits to The Broad Street Ministry Hospitality Collaborative and uses about 500 pounds of spare chicken parts from Federal Donuts each week. Aside from soup, Rooster Soup Co. also dishes out sandwiches, salads, desserts and more.

Michael Solomonov, who's also behind Philly restaurants Dizengoff and Abe Fisher, launched the restaurant after more than 1,500 people donated close to $180,000 toward the mission on Kickstarter

"Occupying a subterranean space not far from Rittenhouse Square, Rooster Soup Co. re-creates a perfect Nighthawks luncheonette—from its red swivel stools to the absurdly fluffy coconut-cream pies sitting in a case behind the Formica counter," GQ said about the restaurant. "Open from breakfast through early-bird dinner, it offers loving re-imaginings of East Coast Jewish-inflected diner favorites: chicken schnitzel served with beet-and-dill spread on homemade Martin's Butter Bread; a chicken potpie enlivened by hawaij, a Yemeni spice blend; smoked-matzo-ball soup."
