The Philadelphia Eagles got to sit back and relax with some stuffed crust pizza as the rest of the NFC playoff teams duked it out in the wildcard round last weekend. Fresh off their first-round bye, the Birds will face their longtime rival, the New York Giants, who beat the Minnesota Vikings on the road last Sunday.

In our Eagles chat on Friday, there were a lot of questions that we could not get to in time or other questions we did answer but could use more color. And so, let's do a mailbag post to answer some of the overflow, as well as some commonly asked questions on Twitter and via email.

The Philadelphia Eagles will face a familiar foe in the New York Giants on Saturday, and they're especially familiar this year since it will be the two teams' third matchup in 42 days.

The Philadelphia Eagles' defense is better than the New York Giants' defense. That wasn't really a serious question that was posed in the headline. The Eagles had the No. 1 defense in the NFL in yards allowed, and were eighth in points allowed. The Giants were 25th in yards allowed, and 18th in points allowed. The advanced stats also liked the Eagles (4th EPA/play, 6th DVOA) better than the Giants (28th EPA/play, 29th DVOA).

The Philadelphia Eagles' offense is better than the New York Giants' offense. That wasn't really a serious question that was posed in the headline. The Eagles scored 6.1 more points per game, gained 49.8 more yards per game. They were also advanced stats darlings (3rd EPA/play, 3rd DVOA), though the Giants certainly held their own (9th EPA/play, 10th DVOA). Still, just for fun, I thought we'd take a position-by-position look at each team on both sides of the ball. We'll start with the offense.
