Honeysuckle Provisions, West Philly's new Afrocentric café and market, to open this weekend

Honeysuckle Provisions, a new café and grocery store in West Philadelphia, will open Saturday, Oct 29 at 310 S. 48th St. The concept is led by acclaimed chefs Omar Tate and Cybille St. Aude-Tate, who envision the space as a community hub celebrating Black cuisine, foodways and farmers in the Philadelphia region. The project was supported by a GoFundMe campaign that raised more than $147,000 in two years.

Bucks County authorities searching for missing Sellersville woman

Authorities in Bucks County are seeking help from the public to locate 55-year-old Elizabeth Capaldi, a Sellersville woman who was reported missing after she was last seen by a family member on Oct. 10. Capaldi is described as 5 feet six inches with brown and grey hair and hazel eyes. She was not known to travel outside of the area alone and mainly stayed in or around the house. Authorities said Capaldi's personal belongings, including her cell phone, keys and car, remained at her home. Her wallet was missing.

Delaware County Community College to build $66.5 million campus in Drexel Hill

Delaware County Community College has received state funding to assist in the construction of a new Southeast Campus in Drexel Hill that will include facilities for expanded programs, a workforce development center, an early childhood learning facility and other community resources and student amenities. The campus is planned at the former site of Archbishop Prendergast High School, near Lansdowne Avenue and Garrett Road.

Beer-chugging comedian, who was heckled by Trump supporter at Jersey club, performs on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

Comedian Ariel Elias appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" this week after the late night host showed support for her in the wake of a heckling incident at Uncle Vinny's Comedy Club in Point Pleasant Beach earlier this month. Elias was pestered by a Donald Trump supporter in the crowd, causing a commotion that ended with another man throwing a beer at Elias on stage. Elias chugged the beer without skipping a beat, going viral with a video that made its way around social media.

A new mural of Phillies star Bryce Harper appeared on the side of the Dougherty Electric warehouse in South Philadelphia, at 45 E. Porter St., just east of I-95 on Tuesday, two days after the Phillies advanced to the World Series to face the Houston Astros. One Phillies fan who tried to purchase tickets for Game 4 at Citizens Bank Park on SeatGeek found out the hard way that the secondary market is a fraught place to roll the dice on a chance to attend a game.

Brigantine's Ernest and Son to be featured on Guy Fieri's 'Triple D Nation'

Ernest and Son Meat Market, a staple in Brigantine since 1977, will be featured on Guy Fieri's "Triple D Nation" at 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 as the celebrity restaurateur continues the fourth season of the "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" spinoff on the Food Network. The butcher shop is run by Brian Mel Cortalessa, a Brigantine native who began working at the market in 1985 and purchased it from the founders in 2007. Fieri has returned to a number of New Jersey restaurants during the current season of "Triple D Nation."

Herr's latest 'Flavored by Philly' chip contest seeks ideas inspired by local businesses

Herr's, the Pennsylvania-based snack company, is holding another "Flavored By Philly" contest that will create a series of new potato chip flavors. This time around, the contest is seeking submissions inspired by small businesses in the five-county Philadelphia area. Fans of businesses can submit flavor ideas and small businesses also can nominate their own. Three finalist chips will be sold at stores in the region in summer 2023, and a vote will be held to crown a winner with a chance to receive prize money.

Former Boot & Saddle location to be site of new cafe, wine bar and live-music venue, Solar Myth

Boot & Saddle, the beloved independent music venue that closed in South Philadelphia in 2020, will soon become a cafe, wine bar and music performance space called Solar Myth. The project will be a collaboration with Ars Nova Workshop, an organization that presents jazz, experimental and classical music shows around the city. Solar Myth will open some time in November, and the iconic, neon Boot & Saddle sign will remain above the space at 1131 S. Broad St.
