Judge temporarily halts closure of Delaware County Memorial Hospital

Crozer Health will not be permitted to close Delaware County Memorial Hospital after a judge issued a preliminary injunction to temporarily halt the health system's planned restructuring. The struggling, four-hospital system is owned by the private, for-profit Prospect Medical Holdings. The county and the nonprofit Foundation for Delaware County had filed a petition to stop the closure of DCMH.

Three Philly SWAT officers wounded, homicide suspect killed in shootout

Three Philadelphia police officers were shot Wednesday morning as they attempted to serve a homicide warrant at a home in the 800 block of North 10th Street. The 19-year-old suspect, Raheem Lee, opened fire from the home, striking the three officers. In the ensuing shootout, Lee was struck by police and suffered fatal injuries. All three police officers are expected to recover from their injuries. Lee was wanted for at least two armed robberies and a homicide that occurred on August 21, authorities said.

Three fans created drunken disturbance at Kevin Hart's stand-up show in Wilkes-Barre, police say

Three fans who attended Kevin Hart's stand-up comedy special at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre were arrested on Sunday night for allegedly causing a drunken disturbance that briefly interrupted the comedian's routine, police said. Tina M. Ramos, 33, of Paterson, New Jersey; Adrian Shaffer Jr., 22, of Paterson; and 30-year-old Asia Lynn McNeill, of Wilkes-Barre were charged in the incident.

Hundreds of rats were illegally dumped in the Harrisburg area – now they're in search of a new home

Authorities in Harrisburg and nearby Steelton are investigating the illegal dumping of a large quantity of domesticated rats late last week. Volunteers and rescue organizations have been collecting the animals in order to take care of them and try to find homes for them. Police are still investigating where the rats came from and are seeking help from the public to identify those responsible.

Pennsylvania farm wins White House Christmas tree contest for second time

The official White House Christmas tree in 2022 will come from Evergreen Acres Tree Farm in Auburn, Schuylkill County. The business won the annual contest held by the National Christmas Tree Association. Evergreen previously had a tree displayed by the Clinton Administration in 2000. This year's tree ornament theme will be chosen by First Lady Jill Biden.

Withers the dog, set to be adopted, stolen from animal shelter in North Philly

A small dog was stolen from the ACCT Philly shelter on West Hunting Park Avenue on Monday afternoon. The shelter identified the dog as Withers, who had someone lined up to adopt him prior to the dognapping. ACCT Philly shared surveillance video and photos with Philadelphia police to aid in the ongoing investigation.

Neon Museum of Philadelphia, a shrine of vintage signs, to close in Olde Kensington

The Neon Museum of Philadelphia will close its location at 1800 N. American St. in Olde Kensington on Dec. 11 after a nearly two-year run in the space. Len Davidson, the curator of the collection, which has been on display since 1983, hopes to partner with a local institution to find a new location that will keep the vintage signs publicly accessible in the city.

Woman's urn returned to daughter after washing ashore in Ocean City, more than a year after her death

An urn containing the ashes of a Georgia woman washed up at a beach in Ocean City last week, prompting a man to track down the woman's family and reunite them with her remains. Ryan Leonard said his children found the urn of Paulette Eva Rose Tricoche in sea grass outside their property. He found her information online and contacted the funeral home, which said Tricoche was a Cape May native who died in Georgia last year. The urn had been shipped to Cape May after Tricoche was cremated. Leonard got in touch with her daughter and has returned the remains to her.

Fetterman's I-95 billboards calling Oz a Cowboys fan are the latest barbs in a Senate race that's hit peak absurdity

In Pennsylvania's race for U.S. Senate, John Fetterman and Mehmet Oz have been trading barbs in one of the dirtiest campaign clashes in recent memory. Fetterman, the state's Democratic lieutenant governor, has put two billboards on Interstate 95 near Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles, that call his opponent a fan of the hated rival Dallas Cowboys, who come to town Sunday night.
