Montgomery County high school athletic trainer allegedly supplied teens alcohol before fatal DUI crash

A former athletic trainer at Owen J. Roberts High School in Pottstown is facing criminal charges for allegedly providing alcohol to four teenagers who were involved in a car crash in Chester County last summer, Montgomery County prosecutors said. Kelsey Martin, 35, was charged in connection with the crash in North Coventry, Chester County, where 18-year-old Louis Carbajal died from his injuries. The driver, 18-year-old Connor Quinn, was charged with homicide by vehicle in the DUI crash.

William McSwain, former U.S. Attorney in Philly office, seeks Trump's backing in run for Pa. governor

Former U.S. Attorney William McSwain plans to run for governor of Pennsylvania in 2022 and is seeking the support of former President Donald Trump. In a letter, McSwain told Trump that he was discouraged from pursuing allegations of voter fraud and irregularities in Pennsylvania last November by former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr.

Frontier Airlines debuts cheap flights from Philly to two new New England cities

Frontier Airlines has launched nonstop service from Philadelphia International Airport to Providence, Rhode Island and Portland, Maine that will continue through the summer. Introductory fares for the flights are as low as $29. Frontier now has 23 nonstop routes out of PHL.

New Jersey mother found dead, toddler safe after Amber Alert, police say

The body of 24-year-old mother Yasemin Uyar was found in central Tennessee on Saturday after she and her two-year-old son were reported missing in an Amber Alert by New Jersey State Police. The boy's father, 27-year-old Tyler Rios, was arrested at a Tennessee hotel room and the boy was taken to safety. Rios will be extradited back to New Jersey and will face criminal charges.

Pennsylvania counted 500,000 duplicate COVID-19 shots, officials say

Pennsylvania Department of Health officials have revised the state's COVID-19 vaccination numbers to account for duplicate entries that amounted to about 500,000 doses. The changes were connected to provider records without unique patient identifiers. The state sought to accurately total how many residents have been fully vaccinated, officials said.

Viva Video, the Philly region's last movie rental store, to permanently close

Poconos resort opening America's first virtual reality waterslide

Kalahari Resorts in the Poconos will open the first virtual reality waterslide in the United States on July 28. The technology, developed by Ballast VR, puts waterproof headsets on riders to provide immersive experiences as they tube down the park's Anaconda waterslide. Options include an African safari, an alien encounter in outer space or a castle with fire-breathing dragons.
