Steve Mason’s new mask.

When the Flyers take on the Tampa Bay Lightning this Saturday at 1:00 pm, Steve Mason will have a fresh mask that looks back at the most legendary era in the franchise’s history.

Bobby Clarke, Bill Barber, Bernie Parent, Dave Schultz, Gene Hart, Fred Shero, and of course, Ed Snider appear on the mask designed by Franny Drummond:

And luckily for Mason, it looks like he will finally be able to get a night off soon. On Tuesday, Michael Neuvirth was activated from long-term injured reserve by the Flyers. Since Neuvirth was injured, Dave Hakstol barely used Anthony Stolarz (sent back down to Lehigh Valley), which meant Mason played in a total of 22 games from November 12th to January 1st.

With Neuvirth finally back healthy, Mason’s workload should become much more manageable. In that span, the 28-year-old netminder went an admirable 12-7-3 with a .916 save percentage.
