The Eagles (and other Philadelphia athletes) will be well-represented at the ESPYs

The ESPYs have been around since 1993, and most years there hasn't been much of a reason to watch them if you are a Philadelphia sports fan interested in seeing the local teams be honored nationally. When the 2018 ESPYs air on July 18th, the Eagles, as well as other local athletes and teams, will be well-represented.

Here are the categories where the Eagles and other local athletes are nominated:

Best Championship Performance

Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles, Super Bowl LII

Donte DiVincenzo, Villanova, NCAA basketball tournament

• George Springer, Houston Astros, World Series

• Kevin Durant, Golden State Warriors, NBA Finals

Best Breakthrough Athlete

• Ben Simmons, Philadelphia 76ers

• Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints

• Donovan Mitchell, Utah Jazz

• Sloane Stephens, Tennis

Julie Ertz, a soccer player and the wife of Eagles tight end Zach Ertz, is also nominated for "Best Female Athlete."
