In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the city is hosting a promotional event at Love Park to shine light on the many reasons Philadelphia is a lovely place to live, work and play.

The “I Love Philly” event, sponsored by the Mayor's Office of Faith-Based Initiatives and the House of Umoja, a nonprofit focused on gang mediation and neighborhood development, will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Valentine’s Day, at Love Park, 15th Street and JFK Boulevard.

The day will consist of interfaith speakers, music and poetry, all with a focus on reasons to love Philadelphia, according to Philly.com. The purpose is to remind one another, and share with others, all the positive things Philadelphia has to offer its residents and visitors.

“Somehow we've gotten into a 'Negadelphia' state of mind," said Councilman Curtis Jones Jr., in an announcement about the event. "We need to turn those shrugs into hugs.”
