Jennifer Lawrence seeks to direct a comedy

The Oscar-winning actress is looking to direct 'Project Delirium'

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is ready to make the jump into directing.

Lawrence, the star of "The Hunger Games" series, told Entertainment Weekly that she is looking to direct a comedy dubbed "Project Delirium." The feature is based on a New Yorker article that examined military doctors running experiments on soldiers during the Cold War

"It's funny, I've wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps toward that," Lawrence told EW. "If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn't have been ready. Now I actually feel ready."

Lawrence, 25, won an Oscar for her leading performance in "Silver Linings Playbook," a comedy that addressed mental health and co-starred Philadelphia's Bradley Cooper. She also was nominated for an Academy Award for her performances in "American Hustle" and "Winter's Bone."

Last month, Lawrence spoke out against gender pay inequity, saying she failed to negotiate salaries commensurate with her male co-stars.
