Now that the crazy holiday shopping and the New Year’s celebrations are over, it’s time to take a moment and reflect on how to improve in 2019. Most people think of a New Year’s resolution as starting that new diet you’ve been putting off or getting that gym membership. Sound familiar? Gary Barbera believes that you’re 2019 resolutions should include improving your health, personality, society and your overall outlook on life. Here are some great ways to kickstart your New Year:

Health:

Dragging yourself to the gym everyday can be tough, but there are plenty of other ways to stay healthy. One of the easiest things you can implement into your daily routine is by drinking plenty of water. In addition to staying hydrated, don’t forget to eat your fruits and veggies! Eating a diet rich in vegetables and fruits as part of an overall healthy diet may reduce risk for heart disease, including heart attack and stroke. Whether you’re at work, school or on the go, fill up you water bottle as often as you can and pack some fruits and veggies as a snack.

Personality:

Always trust your instincts! You know yourself best. In many ways, this might be the easiest resolution to follow because this resolution doesn’t require you to change. Going with your gut might not seem like a life-changing 2019 resolution, but this allows you to stop doubting your feelings or overthinking things.

Society:

We live in an ever-changing world and our experiences shape who we are. In the new year, when you are out and about, make sure you leave a lasting impression on the people around you. So, try to make people smile at least three times a day because you never know what people are going through, and a simple compliment or act of kindness can make a big difference.

Life:

One of the biggest challenges in life is forgiveness. Being hurt by someone is difficult to overcome, but the resentment that we feel towards the ones that have hurt us can cause even more pain. Learn how to forgive because despite how it might initially seem, when you forgive someone, you’re doing a service to yourself.

2019 is the year for new beginnings and self care. We are the only ones that have the power to change our lives, why not start now? So, come up with a list of resolutions that you know you can achieve. Gary Barbera’s New Year’s resolutions are a great way to kickstart your New Year’s resolutions!
