A Gloucester County man was indicted Friday for allegedly attempting to set fire to a building South Philadelphia last year
Chad Dodge, 35, of Mullica Hill, was charged with attempted arson and providing a false statement to law enforcement.
Dodge allegedly attempted to set ablaze an unoccupied building located at 752 South Fourth Street on April 14, 2014. According to prosecutors, Dodge gave a false statement to police last month when he claimed he had never handled a timing device found at the address.
Dodge was arrested Friday by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison. The statutory maximum sentence is 25 years in prison, two years of supervised release, a $500,000 fine and a 200 special assessment.
The case was investigated by ATF, Philadelphia Police and the Philadelphia Fire Department.
