New Jersey priest charged with distributing child porn in Pa.

Priest is also a professional poker player

A Roman Catholic priest from New Jersey, who is also a professional poker player, was arrested for allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography in Pennsylvania, authorities announced.

The Rev. Kevin Gugliotta, 54, of Toms River, Ocean County, was charged Wednesday with 20 counts each of possession of child pornography and dissemination of child sex acts, according to court documents.

Gugliotta served as the parochial vicar at Holy Spirit Church in Union Township. He was removed from his position earlier this month when Archdiocese of Newark learned of the criminal investigation from law enforcement, according to James Goodness, archdiocesan vice chancellor and director of communications.

Prosecutors said that Gugliotta used his personal computer on July 9 at his vacation home in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, to upload images of child pornography.

Gugliotta was eventually taken into custody Thursday at his home in Toms River.

The Asbury Park Press reports that Gugliotta is also a professional poker player. According to The Hendon Mob, a poker database, Gugliotta has earned $202,365 in his career.

Gugliotta is currently at a Toms River jail awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
