Penn student arrested in frat house arson investigation

A University of Pennsylvania student has been arrested in connection with an alleged arson at a fraternity house, The Daily Pennsylvanian reports.

Lorenzo Bonfiglio, a college and Wharton sophomore from London and a member of the Owls Society, has been arrested by Penn police. The arrest was "in connection with an arson," according to an email from the Division of Public Safety.

The Psi Upsilon — also known as Castle — fraternity house had its alarm go off at 4:04 a.m. last Friday. The fire was set in a closet at the house on 250 S. 36th Street.

Fortunately, the blaze was extinguished by a built-in sprinkler system before firefighters arrived, and no serious injuries were reported. Division of Public Safety Chief of Fire and Emergency Services Eugene Janda told The Daily Pennsylvanian the incident was being investigated as "possible arson."

Bonfiglio has been arraigned. A hearing date is scheduled for Nov. 13.
