A police shootout erupted late Thursday night when officers saw a man entering an abandoned home on a fire-damaged block in Delaware County, NBC10 reports.

Chester police were monitoring Bickley Place after three fires broke out on the block in just four days. Authorities have called the fires suspicious.

They saw the man enter the abandoned home around 11:30 p.m. When they followed him inside, a shootout erupted after police said the man opened fire.

He was able to escape despite police bringing in a K-9 for the search. No injuries were reported.
