Made in America 2021: Road closures, COVID-19 guidelines and prohibited items

The 10th Made in America festival in Philadelphia will take place on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4-5, with headlining performances from Justin Bieber, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion and Doja Cat. The city and event producer Roc Nation have developed a series of road closures, safety restrictions, COVID-19 policies and other guidelines for those who plan to attend the festival and residents impacted by it.

Five Guys plans new restaurant on Penn campus in University City

Five Guys will open its fourth Philadelphia location in fall 2020. A new restaurant will open on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. The burger and shake joint is slated to open at 3714 Spruce Street, the former location of Beijing Restaurant, which closed in 2020 after 32 years.

Philly police reveal predictive DNA sketch in Fairmount Park Rapist investigation

Philadelphia police released a new suspect sketch in their investigation of the Fairmount Park Rapist, an unidentified man who has been linked to four violent incidents between 2003 and 2007. The most high-profile incident happened in July 2003, when 30-year-old medical student Rebecca Park was assaulted and killed. The linked cases have remained unsolved for nearly 20 years, but authorities hope the new sketch based on a predictive analysis of DNA evidence may help point to a suspect who remains at large.

Former Eagle Vinny Curry to miss 2021 NFL season with rare blood disorder

New York Jets defensive end Vinny Curry will miss the 2020 NFL season after undergoing surgery for a rare blood disorder that required the removal of his spleen. The former Eagle and Super Bowl champion, 33, said he expects to make a full recovery and wants to return to the NFL next season.

Delco cheesesteak shop owner survives shocking knife attack by employee

The owner of Leo's Steaks in Folcroft, Delaware County, survived a knife attack from an employee on Aug. 20. The incident happened inside the business on Chester Pike, where Steven Mullan allegedly was stabbed by 43-year-old Sean Walklett. Mullan had a 10-inch knife lodged in his neck, but had it safely removed without serious complications. Walklett is charged with attempted first-degree murder and other offenses.

Philadelphia-based URBN will launch a new online thrift store this fall, Nuuly Thrift, that gives buyers and sellers a platform for secondhand goods. Customers can put earnings from Nuuly Thrift directly into their bank accounts or receive an additional 10% in the form of credit that can be used at any of the URBN brands.

Giant Snoop Dogg bobbleheads stolen from three Philly area grocery stores

Authorities in Chester County and Bucks County are investigating a series of thefts at local grocery stories, where a 3.5-foot-tall bobblehead version of rapper Snoop Dogg has been stolen on three separate occasions in the last month. The limited edition bobblehead was created as part of Snoop Dogg's advertising campaign with Corona.

Donkey's Place plans new cheesesteak spots in Philly, Mount Holly

Famed South Jersey cheesesteak spot Donkey's Place is planning an expansion with a new location in Mount Holly and another outpost potentially in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia. Founded more than 75 years ago, Donkey's Place earned the acclaim of late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, who declared their unique kaiser roll cheesesteaks better than anything in Philly.

The Rittenhouse town home of former of 6ABC anchor Monica Malpass has sold for $2.85 million. The six-bedroom property in Center City Philadelphia was listed several times in recent years. Malpass, 60, departed from 6ABC in 2019 and has since joined NASDAQ as a business anchor.
