Speed camera program to begin on I-95 in Wilmington
Delaware's Electronic Speed Safety Program on I-95 in Wilmington will be phased in beginning Monday, Jan. 17 in the work zone covering the "Restore the Corridor" project, the department of transportation said. The program, which will Violation warnings and notices with fines will be mailed to motorists after the first 30 days of the program. Crashes have increased significantly along this stretch of I-95 in Wilmington in the last two years.January 12, 2022

Netflix remake of cult action film 'The Raid' to be set in Philadelphia
A remake of the cult-classic 2011 action film "The Raid" will be set in Philadelphia and directed by Patrick Hughes, with producers Michael Bay and Gareth Evans also teaming up on the project. The original film, set in Indonesia, centered on an elite police squad's attempt to take down a drug lord in a high-rise apartment building. Smoke detectors inside apartment where deadly Fairmount fire started were inoperable, Philly fire commissioner says
The 12 people who died in last week's Fairmount rowhome fire were not alerted to the flames because the smoke detectors in their unit were inoperable, Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel said. He also said on Tuesday that it is likely the fire started when a 5-year-old boy ignited a Christmas tree with a lighter. A federal antitrust lawsuit accuses the University of Pennsylvania and 15 other U.S. colleges of colluding to create guidelines for financial-aid awards. Jazz and R&B icon James Mtume, a native of South Philadelphia, has died at the age of 76 after a long and influential career that included collaborations with Miles Davis, Don Cherry, Herbie Hancock and Duke Ellington. Together with Reggie Lucas, Mtume created a sound often described as "sohphistifunk."
